We are grieving and reeling after Sunday's terror attack against Jews celebrating Hanukkah on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia. Because our alliance was formed in Abraham's name, in a very real sense, Jews, Christians, and Muslims are all family. While we are deeply thankful that a Muslim fruit seller disarmed one of the shooters to save lives, our Abrahamic Alliance feels as though a terrorist attack against any of us is an attack against all of us. This attack reminds us of the urgency of our work to confront prejudice and counter the hate that has infected hearts to prey upon innocent, unarmed people just because of their ethnicity or religion. Show your Jewish neighbors that they are not alone by showing up at your local synagogue this weekend on #SolidarityShabbat.

Show Jewish neighbors you are serious about obeying divine commandments to love your neighbor as yourself, and to love for your neighbor what you love for yourself.

How to visit a Synagogue on #SolidarityShabbat

  • Choose a synagogue nearby (search Google Maps, or see Silicon Valley list below)
  • Outside of Silicon Valley, download and print 2 of our #SolidarityShabbat placards on any size paper (or 11 x 17 in. card stock), staple a paint stir stick between them (back to back).
  • Plan to stay outside keeping watch near the main entrance, especially because of heightened security concerns at this time of high alert. However, if you are invited inside, check out these tips.
  • Greet arrivals with "Shabbat Shalom" (like "Happy Sunday" for Christians or "Jumah Mubarakah" for Muslims.
